Filmmakers have just two more months to send in their entries for Kino’s new biennial Manchester International Film Festival, scheduled to take place 26th October – 4th November 2007. The new festival of Independent Cinema will combine an eclectic mix of Features and Shorts, showcasing exclusive premieres from outstanding new talent and those filmmakers whom are breaking new ground and pushing the boundaries of independent cinema in categories such as “Extreme Cinema“. The new Call for Entries for both features and shorts is now open until the end of March 2007.
“Transitions“ will be a new focus on features, which aims to celebrate the success of film makers that have made the successful transition from short film to feature. We’ll be looking primarily for work in this category from UK based filmmakers and Polish film makers but will also consider features from other countries as long as they fit the criteria of a short filmmaker that has recently made that transition. This could be a first or second feature film – either a low or big budget production, as long as the work is innovative and developing new ideas.
The Kinofilm Shorts Fest will continue to flourish within the Manchester International Film Festival, hosting an extravaganza of exceptional and innovative short films of all categories, including: Kino Extreme, Underground, Experimental, Horror, Drama, Fantasy, Romance, Animation and the hugely popular new Comedy strand.
